The simplest decision tool there is: one question, two big buttons. Share it by link or QR code, or count a show of hands in the room.
When a yes/no poll is the right format
Use yes/no when the decision really is binary: go ahead or not, keep the meeting or drop it, approve the proposal. If people keep saying “it depends”, the question isn’t binary yet. Rewrite it, or switch to a multiple choice poll with the conditions as options.
Should you add a “not sure” option?
Adding a third option changes the result. Without it, undecided people are forced to lean one way (or skip), which is what you want when you need a decision. With it, you learn how many people are genuinely undecided, which is what you want when you are testing whether the group is ready to decide. Switch the poll type to “Choice” and add “Not sure” if you want the second kind.
Reading a close result
A 55/45 split from 20 people is not a clear mandate: the margin of error is about ±22 points. Try it in the slider below before announcing a winner.
How much can you trust a 60/40 split?
Drag the sliders. The bar shows the result; the shaded band is where the “true” share of a bigger group could plausibly be (95% confidence).
±17.5 points, so anywhere from 42% to 78%. The range crosses 50%, so with this few votes you can’t say the leader has a true majority.
This only applies when voters are a random sample of a bigger group (say, 30 students standing in for the whole year). If everyone who matters voted, the count is simply the answer. Formula: 1.96 × √(p(1−p)/n), the standard normal approximation.

How do I make a yes or no poll?
Type your question, keep the Yes/No type selected and press Create poll. You get a vote link, a QR code and a host board with the live split.
Can I rename Yes and No?
Yes. Switch to the Choice type and type any two options, such as “Go ahead” and “Wait a month”.
Can I run a yes/no vote without phones?
Yes. Open the host board’s Show of hands tab and tap +1 for each raised hand, or use pass-the-device for a secret vote.
