How to make a poll on Facebook

Facebook doesn’t offer polls everywhere. The poll option shows up in Groups, in Messenger group chats and as a sticker in Stories; it is generally not available on ordinary personal profile posts.

Steps

  1. In a Group: start a new post and choose Poll from the post options. Add the question and options, then set whether members can add options or pick several.
  2. In a Messenger group chat: open the chat, tap “+” or the more menu, choose Poll, then add the question and options.
  3. In a Story: create a Story, add the Poll sticker, type a question and two answers, then share.

Menus move between app versions, so labels may differ slightly on your device.

Limits to know

  • Only members of the group or chat (or your Story audience) can vote.
  • Story polls disappear with the Story after 24 hours.

When a link poll works better

You want people without a Facebook account to vote, need more than a two-answer Story poll, or want results you can export. Post a PollCraft link instead.

PollCraft polls open in any browser with no account, come with a QR code and a full-screen results view, and can run as a secret ballot on one device. How votes reach you.

Questions people ask

Why can’t I find the poll option on my Facebook profile?

Polls are offered in Groups, Messenger group chats and Stories rather than ordinary profile posts. Use one of those, or share a poll link.

Can people vote without a Facebook account?

Not in a Facebook poll. A PollCraft link opens in any browser, no account needed.
