Steps
- Messages: open an iMessage conversation, tap “+” next to the text field and choose Polls (available on recent iOS versions; update your iPhone if you don’t see it).
- Type the question and options, then send. People in the conversation tap to vote.
- WhatsApp: in a chat, tap “+” → Poll.
- Any group (including Android users): create a PollCraft poll in Safari and share the link from the share sheet.
Menus move between app versions, so labels may differ slightly on your device.
Limits to know
- Messages polls work in iMessage conversations; friends on Android (SMS/RCS) may not be able to vote.
- Chat polls are visible to everyone in the chat and can’t be shown on a projector.
When a link poll works better
Your group mixes iPhone and Android, you want anonymous votes, or you need a QR code and a results chart for a room.
PollCraft polls open in any browser with no account, come with a QR code and a full-screen results view, and can run as a secret ballot on one device. How votes reach you.
Questions people ask
Does iPhone have a built-in poll feature?
Recent iOS versions add polls in Messages for iMessage conversations. On older versions, use a chat app poll or a link poll in Safari.
Can Android users vote in an iPhone poll?
Messages polls are an iMessage feature, so Android participants may not be able to vote. A PollCraft link works on any phone.
